Why Absence of Celebrities in Grammy Award 2014?

While there are a lot of singers appeared in the Grammy Awards 2014, there were also  famous singers in some well-known songs in 2013 who did not appear in the program. What happen to them? Even though they are nominated for top singers, both Justin Timberlake and Rihanna did not attend the annual entertainment award program since they both were performed on stage at Grammy Awards last year.
